High Performance for Offshore Supply

High-performance specialty lubricants provide the difference in today’s offshore and energy sectors. High performance in the face of extreme conditions aboard ships, good environmental compatibility and extended lubricant life to reduce equipment service intervals are the essential requirements for todays advanced equipment & vessels.

Klüber Lubrication presents its series of products at Offshore Energy 2018, presenting products including environmentally acceptable lubricants (EAL’s) for all types of vessels including new special greases for wire ropes, high-performance synthetic gear oils and rolling bearing greases. “Klüber Lubrication offers the complete range of specialty lubricants for the Offshore Industry from a single source,” explains Dirk Fabry, Business Development Manager. “As a result, we are able to cover 90% of all lubricant applications aboard ships with both EAL’s.” “Further”, Mr Fabry adds, “with unrivalled expertise in energy production such as wind power, we are positioned as a global supply partner to the Offshore Industry.”

Klüberbio AG 39-602 is a lubricant for open gears and highly loaded rolling and slide bearings, offering good adhesion and water resistance. Selected additives ensure an extremely high corrosion protection, even when exposed to salt water. The new EAL grease Klüberbio BM 32-142 provides excellent wear protection for rolling bearings that are exposed to vibrations from diesel engines, propellers and wave motion. This synthetic low-temperature grease is ideal at Arctic temperatures and significantly reduces maintenance costs, due to longer relubrication intervals and extended bearing service lives.

“We are already working today on solutions for tomorrow’s challenges,” explains Mr Fabry. “One of these future solutions is the successful development of Hydro Lubricants. These are currently still at the development stage for the marine sector.” Klüber Lubrication Hydro Lubricants have recently been honoured with an Innovation Award in the ‘Material Surface’ category for innovative technology. With a high level of water as their functional lubricant, their benefits for sensitive environmental areas are clear: the potential to meet the growing performance and energy efficiency requirements for lubricants, along with high sustainability, as these are based on renewable raw materials.
